Let us take a look at the statement above. Let us leave out the abortion concept, whether it is good or evil, and focus on how minors are being kept from protecting themselves. William Saletan’s logic is so flawed that it is the perfect example of the backward logic used by the far left. The ideology is wrong on so many levels but it can be summed up in a simple statement.

Every single adult use to be a child and can draw from the experience of being a child, slaves and women didn’t grow up to be white men. White men had no idea what it was like to be a slave or a woman.

Adults know exactly what it is like to be a child. Drawing on that experience, most adults are honest with themselves. They know that as a child they couldn’t have made that decision and they also know that as a child they thought they could have.

Another problem with Salentan’s statement is that adults are legally responsible for their children. Adults provide for children who can not provide for themselves. It’s the perfect form of socialism. It’s taking from those who make the right decisions in life, who are more than able to provide value to society and giving to the people who are not able (or willing in most cases) to provide for themselves.

Is Bristol able to provide for her child? Can she provide a home, a source of income, a steady way of life to raise a balanced child? Without even a high school education completed it’s going to be very tough. Providing will be easier now that she is in a family of stature but will still be very tough. Society would then have to provide for her and her family. People who made the right decisions to not get pregnant, who chose to be responsible enough not to have to make the abortion decision, people who sacrificed, scrimped and saved so that they could provide for their family are going to have to pay for Bristol’s child in some form or another.

The far left, as with the far right with their no abortion even with cases of incest and rape, are so far out of touch with reality that they don’t stop to think about the simple principal of thinking your internal logic through a bit more before you spew it out on pages for the world to see.

Where does it end? Children should have adult rights at the age of 16? 15? 12? 10? Should we allow children to determine that they don’t have to go to school and can stay out past 10pm when they enter high school? Jr. High? The 6th grade? Where, William Salentan, is the line? Maybe there shouldn’t be one. A child hits 3 years old and they should be able to eat all the ice cream, spend all the time in the tanning salon and hang out on the streets any time they want. They should be able to drive, vote and fight for our country too. While you’re at it, let’s let them make life and death decisions.

William Salentan, socialism doesn’t work. You’re ridiculous to believe it does. Slavery has nothing to do with children. Children are loved, respected, admired. My children are my legacy and it’s in my best interest for my legacy to be as strong as possible. It’s in my best interest to provide for my children and it’s love that drives my decisions. Don’t be so naïve as to compare them to slaves. You’re embarrassing yourself.
