Break-Down
Recommended to have at least $3,000 available for the trip.
You could thoroughly explore the Main Street area in 3 days but we would definitely recommend taking at least 4. The zoo itself took 5 hours and we didn't visit any one area very long. Most of the venues close around 6 with the last call being around 4. While this is very annoying, it allows for a very relaxed night life. As long as the weather is good and you are in decent shape, you can walk to almost everywhere. The park has many areas that we did not make it to, including a paddle boat rental area to allow you to cruise around on the pond. There are at least a dozen museums but we aren't exactly sure they are all in the area of the Natural Museum of Science and the Butterfly Museum we planned on visiting. We stayed in the Crowne Plaza Medical Center and would recommend it for the week days but not for the weekends.
We didn't make it to the Gulf of Mexico but you could make it on the 4th day...I'd expect to pay at least $60 for a round trip cab ride. It might be worth renting a car.
