Night Pleasures
(Dark-Hunter Series, Book 2)
by Sherrilyn Kenyon
This is the first book in the Dark-Hunter series that I read. I later found out there is a "prequel" Dark Lover. But, Sherrilyn Kenyon did start the Dark-Hunter series with this book so it fills in all the gaps nicely. The first thing I have to share is how I love they way Sherrilyn Keynon incorporates Greek mythology into this series but I think the best part is her definition of a vampire- Damions: Apollites who have been cursed to walk the night and drink eachothers' blood because they killed Apollo's mortal mistress. To live longer than a short twenty-seven-years they must become soul suckers. The Dark-Hunter are the ancient warriors who, at the time of their death, suffer such great heartache and betrayel that they cry to the gods for vengence. Artemis hears their cry and gives them a chance to take their vengence- the price is their soul - but they must kill Damions for all eternity. In this book you're introduced to Kyrian (Dark-Hunter, hero to all man kind despite caring scars that run so deep a mortal man could never bare them) and Amanda (conservetive, witty and just wants a normal life, no paranormal stuff) who one night wake up to find themselves cuffed to eachother.
I enjoyed being introduced to this Dark-Hunter world were there are paranormal creatures that mingle and don't mingle so well with eachother and humans. Yes, it's labeled romance but Sherrilyn Kenyon adds pently of character and plot developement to this exciting paranormal world of Dark-Hunters. I can't wait to pick up the next book in her series! This book was not available in digital format but barnesandnoble.com does. I settled for the paperback and was reminded why I like digital formats, the books is very well worn now and I had to buy a night light.
